I wanted to share with all of you what I’ve learned about blogging this past year. OMG, I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for a whole year!!! I am, by no means, an expert. And I know I have so much to learn, but advice and tips I’ve been given should be shared! Maybe I can help someone just starting out. Maybe hearing the same piece of advice in a different voice will help you. Here is what I’ve learned this past year.
Try not to obsess over your numbers. This is still something I have to remind myself of. My numbers are not where I want them to be, nor where I feel they should be. Despite that, I have been able to work with some incredible brands and bloggers. Some of which I contacted and some have come to me. Let me tell you, the first email you get from a well-known brand is seriously life-changing.
This next one stems from the previous. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! When I first started blogging and didn’t even have a self-hosted site, I would email every brand I loved to see if they wanted to work with Winifred Jac. Some I didn’t hear back from. Some emailed me back and wanted to know my numbers. Some were actually like,YES! It was amazing. I looked at it this way, what’s the worse that could happen? If anything, my brand was out there. I always told myself that maybe they might want me later, and I would be just as pumped to work with them then. Remember, a lot of brands are new too and want to work with any blogger they can because blogging is one of the best forms of marketing right now. They need you, too!
Finally, put money into your blog right away. Don’t even mess around with a free theme. It looks that way and it isn’t YOU. I envisioned my blog when I first started out (as you should). I couldn’t find what I wanted without paying for it. Now it is ME. Simple, yet chic. Black and gold. #1 happened because I did this. Literally, the next day, I was emailed because my blog looked clean and professional. I was offered a free product for a blog post. Voila! If blogging is really what you want to be doing, do it right. Put your energy into it. Put all your extra time into it. Put any money you can into it. I promise you it will make a difference and be worth it in the end.
I really hope this helps at least one of y’all. Let me know your best blogging tip below. And please share! XO.
